Legendary British sports car maker, Caterham Cars, has appointed CSI to implement its DesignDataManager (DDM) as part of efforts to streamline its engineering process.

Caterham has chosen to implement DDM for its CAD system SOLIDWORKS and address its short and long-term requirement for Product Lifecycle Management. With over 20 years’ experience, CSI develops and supports DesignDataManager (DDM), a data management system targeting efficient management of the leading software applications.

Meanwhile, Caterham has been the custodian of the iconic Caterham Seven for over 40 years, during which time the design of Colin Chapman’s lightweight two-seater has barely changed but remains the automotive industry’s benchmark for intuitive handling and fun.

George Campbell, Caterham’s Engineering Development Manager, said: “Initially the data management system will be set up for engineering data only but it could be used for other areas of our business in the future.”
Caterham’s current range of models goes from the entry-level, three-cylinder Seven 160 to the racetrack-optimised 620R, the most powerful production Seven ever built.
Its road cars are sold in more than 30 countries including the USA, with export accounting for roughly 55% of its total sales; Japan and France are its biggest markets apart from the UK.
Caterham also runs a series of motor racing championships, which range from the novice-only Academy, which is approaching its landmark 1,000th new race driver to the Supersport R300 championship for much more experienced racers.
